I Usually Love Rookie Thailand but...

Okay, I have finished episode 5 thinking it was the end but apparently 1 more episode has been added. But there is nothing an added episode can do to save this mess.
This is by far the worse script for a BL (except 2 Moons The Ambassador and let's face that travesty should have never been made)

The story is so contrived. Ana is already crushing on Fuse before meeting him officially and then they do meet as Fuse arrives at Ana's father's dental practice for a teeth cleaning with Fuse asking if hes good looking and why he's single if he's so good looking. Ana says Fuse can hit on him and BOOM & BIG BOOM (Pun Intended) suddenly they are in love. Both suddenly feel the right to be jealous for the most mundane of reasons. They barely know one another yet all this angst ensues. It's almost farcical. The tears and jealousy is laughable.

And they have zero chemistry or the ability to build some. Like for instance 21 Days Theory laid some ground work and made it believable. X had a crush on Q and realized his time was running out to make a move so he insinuated his way into Q's life. He made Q fall for him even though Q had no idea who he was. It wasn't some instant love.

In addition I can be very petty and I admit that so when the new version of Love Mechanics came out it was not made available to an international audience but the first two episodes appeared on YouTube and that was when I saw the new Gun and Bar and immediately I said NO. They were not Folk or Win (the original Gun and Bar) they were in my opinion a poor substitute. Good Looking Yes. Decent Actors Eh, sure but for me they were not authentic to what Gun and Bar was in En of Love (TOSSARA, LOVE MECHANICS & THIS IS LOVE STORY) it was like how MAME took Love By Chance 2: A Chance To Love and changed the whole story which made no sense.
Ana and Fuse seemed like a joke the way they suddenly became boyfriends. And all that followed. Plus were Gun & Bar even needed if they were so would Vee and Mark. They were not there and definitely weren't recast.
I personally would have liked Tee and Bever to be used more as support than Gun and Bar. Tee played Ana's friend but wasnt a cohesive part of the story. All support seem to come from Fuse's friends like Kamphan, Gun and Bar.
Even though it ended unhappily even The Best Story made more sense and had a great balance.
Future the Series will definitely not go down as a favorite. And that's a pity because I adore Rookie Thailand.
Update: Episode 6 Aired and nothing changed in fact it got just a little bit worse. So good news is it's over and I never have to see it again. This one is dead to me.

So Much Potential. NC scenes Epic. But....

This series reminds me of Check Out: The Series. A good pilot episode but the series itself just didn't find its way. I liked almost all of the cast until the guest appearance of the MVT Twins. MVT is Motive Village Trash.

I truly despise Motive Village and all their underhanded BS with the 2 Moons Debacle and in my personal opinion anyone in the last part of that series is indeed Motive Village Trash which drops the points down dramatically for me.

I personally will never watch this series again but though the main couple of Sky and Venus was a slow earned relationship I could appreciate the determination to show the pain of people's actions. Venus was scarred by Sky's rejection and he didn't make it easy in reuniting.

The side couple of J and Bomb was so much better to me and those actors sold a great relationship even the arguments and disagreements and the way they worked through them.

The writing here was pretty good and I think it deserves a score of about an 8 but points off for the MVT. Thanks for making their appearance brief but seeing them left a bad taste for me personally. Just My opinion. Worth the watch at least once.

Chimon Is Excellent. Perth Is Excellent. Separately

Perth was gold with Saint even though its been a long time. I am not a huge fan of Perth since the video dropped of LBC cast bullying openly gay Earth. Though Mean was the worse of them. Back To this train wreck of a series.

The Cast was great and the potential was there but somehow the drop the ball down a hill and legend is it's still rolling. At least it's replacement seems better. Here's to Jimmy and Sea helping at least me put this series where it belongs. in the past.

I will say though I prefer Mark with Cooper but Pawin is a close second and had they given them an actual story this series would have been worth it. The crumbs they gave this side couple is actually criminal.

Then an ending that was so corny it deserved a cob.

Deviation From 2 Mini Series

I feel like Ive been waiting for this forever. Ive fallen in love with the actors and their characters. I will complete this series. That being said lets begin.

This review is preliminary as I have only seen 2 episodes.

Now in the mini series Gigi knew Phu. She spoke to him about the rumors about him and Nan. She made it clear she was interested in Nan. She was a freshman and Nan and Phu were seniors. However the Gigi in the series (played by a different actress) is she suppose to be the same Gigi?

In the mini series Nan tried to fix Phu up with Deena and Phu lost it. When Phu decided to be honest with Nan at Deena's suggestion he saw Nan with his friends and Gigi when he asked him to come straight home after his final and he left claiming to be going to Melbourne to be with his mother. Here it appears Phu left because Nan kissed him. A drunken kiss and Phu is obviously in love with Nan.
And another difference in the mini series Phu said he and Nan were in the same faculty with different majors yet here they both seem to be advertising majors but Phu wants to follow in his father's footstep and run a coffee shop.

This is a good series and maybe it will all come together in the 10 episodes. The changes aren't that jarring but to me it appears you need not (unless you already have) watch the two mini series since they're going in a different direction.
However I do suggest watching the two mini series just in case they refer to it in later episodes.

My last comparison is this...in the Nanfah mini series his landlady basically revealed Phu's feelings for Nan which is why Nan went to Melbourne every year in hopes of finding Phu. They showed Nan going to Melbourne in this series yet they dont seem to be showing his knowledge of Phu's feelings or his reciprocation of those feelings. So all I can do is wait to see where this series is going.

Okay, instead of starting over I will put my review below what I wrote after episode 2.

The problem with this series is it's complete deviation from the minis. They should've picked up where the Nanfah Mini Left Off. But shoulda coulda woulda.

This is still a decent series but the BL Fandom in my opinion got it wrong. All the blame is put solely on the character of Phu for leaving for 10 years without so much of an apology to Nanfah. Was Phu wrong, oh yes but Nan was wrong as well. You see in the minis Phu ran away after seeing Nan embrace Gigi and take the flower she gave him making him (incorrectly) think Nan accepted GiGi's feelings. Now in the series Gigi was played by a different actress and was clearly not the Gigi from the mini series.
So in the series Phu left after an extended kiss with Nan while they were drunk and Nan was all in for this kiss yet it was never discussed again. Nan clearly returned Phu's feelings but he didn't say anything either. Nan made a statement in the series that he didn't believe in dating friends to Phu.
What was Phu to think? In my opinion that kiss was Phu's attempt to get a conversation started about how they felt about each other. Phu was in pain. He was in love with a man that made him think if he confessed he would lose him. This was because of Nan's words and actions.
Nan could have at any time given Phu hope because clearly he felt the same. Now when Party confessed Nan said he knew Party liked him. But he did Party the same way he did Phu. He knew but he stayed quiet then shot him down saying what he said to Phu while they were in high school. Friends Are Just Friends.

So Phu was terrified. He loved his best friend and Nan told him he could never see a friend as anything more. Phu was a very likable character. In the minis he would do anything for Nan and did. Nan knew this and practically used Phu as an alarm clock, as a maid, as the food provider and as a dance partner. He walked all over what Phu wanted or needed. Im not saying Nan wasn't a decent friend. But there is plenty of blame to go around.

When Phu got back Nan went right back to using Phu. He stuck him with that cat and Phu basically took over caring for Nan's pet. He cleaned Nan's apartment. Nan is a grown ass man he should know to throw out rotten food and empty containers. So yes they both made mistakes. So Phu lied to Nan and that was wrong I 100% agree it was wrong.
But Nan's own words made Phu suffer in silence. Ultimately Phu running away was for his own mental health. They were codependent on the other which is why Nan could not even sleep without Phu in his world.
Then in Episode 8 they seem to revisit the minis with Khunkhao, suddenly it was back to Nan visiting Melbourne every year for 9 years in search of Phu. In the minis when Nan left to search for Phu he was well aware of Phu's feelings and he figured out he felt the same yet when Phu returned none of that was even covered.
Every fan has a right to their own opinion but Phu was a great friend to Nan from the beginning with those rowdy kids to helping him in high school and university. He got on his knees in front of Nan's father to beg for Nan to be able to follow the path he wanted. He even took that path himself and helped Nan all the way through.
The writing was the problem. For instance Phu said he didn't know how to market the coffee farm yet he studied the same thing as Nan. And Nan himself credited Phu for Nan making it. Phu was not perfect but neither was Nan. Mistakes were made by both them. Yet even Nan couldn't stay mad at Phu for his disappearance. The truth is he was just happy to have Phu back. The first night of Phu's return Nan slept like a baby without drugs. Nan wasnt angry at Phu because he loved him and he couldn't come out and say it either. Get over laying all their issues at Phu's doorstep. Nan's doorstep needs some baggage too. He isn't blameless.

OFFROAD & DAOU DELIVERED

Was this a perfect BL...maybe not. But it was perfect for Me. I adore Daou and Offroad together. Great Kisses. The only negative was the whole debt/kidnapping thing. And it wasn't a total negative it was just it came out of nowhere. The portrayal of love and acceptance between friends and family was heartwarming. I love how every person was there for the other. Offroad delivered a sincere performance as a guy that just wanted to be seen. To be trusted. Daou was so good as well. Almost perfect. Loved it

The Potential of this Show was astronomical but failed

First of all Luke and Dew acted so well off of one another. I know Luke was a replacement in this series and thank God. This man can act and is not hard to look at. Loved seeing Dew in a lead role. He is the only reason I tolerated the worse version of F4 (just my opinion)

The villains were so cookie cutter in Sroy and Tanya with no repercussions for any of them. They were allowed to to destroy lives with no repercussions at all. The way Sroy treated Vee's mother and not only allowed to take the company over but was forgiven by Vee and his mother with a mere apology.

Same with child like Chanon feeling jealous and acting like his bitchy mother. All Sroy got was falling with some water only to have the mistreated sister in law racing to her aid.

Yes, it was a good series technically but it was tied up too neatly. Better in my opinion to make bad people get their punishment instead of cross the board forgiveness for the wronged party.

We can't always get what we want but Sroy did. All her bad behavior and her sons were dismissed with a apologies. In a time of massive data breaches across the world this series shows one engineered with no punishment what so ever. While I enjoyed the acting and moat of the story in the end a 10 series became less than an 8. And that's generous.
But Dew and Luke made it a pretty series no...GORGEOUS. Have Mercy.

The Best Short Length BL of 2023

This series pulled me in immediately. The chemistry of the main leads was dynamic. The Lee's have easily reach the status of the Parks (SEMANTIC ERROR)

The Kiss scenes were amazing in comparison to most KBL series.

And both main leads were absolutely Gorgeous.
I've watched this series more times than I can say.

Even the side characters were amazing...I loved Sunny.

Very well done.

Lee Wan in my opinion had every right to run away because Shin Ki Tae reacted unfavorable to his confession of love in my opinion. I think he was just surprised but at same time he didn't seem to feel the same way. It is plausible that he didn't know how he felt until he lost Lee Wan for that 7 Years. Then all he could feel was regret. I mean he did immediately chase after Lee Wan so maybe he simply needed a moment after Lee Wan confessed, kissed and then took off.

But You could see Lee Wan was traumatized. He took a risk and he thought Ki Tae rejected him. But my heart went out to Ki Tae and his hidden anxiety in Episode 7. So well acted. I miss them already.

A Refreshing Love Story

Korean BL has picked up with such great stories such as Semantic Error, Light On Me, Blueming, Cherry Blossoms After Winter etc.

This story is simple and sweet and deals with office romance between a late bloomer and his new boss.

It also deals with past grievances with a unrequited love and how such trival matters are always not so trival. That everyone has a right to their feelings in situations like these. But it also allows for getting pass those situations through communication.

I would highy recommend this series but people are different and are allowed to like what they like. I read that some think that the main leads had no chemistry. I can respect that opinion but totally disagree.
Chemistry in romance comes in different forms and one of those forms is genuine attraction between people who have a mutual love and respect for one another and a desire to see the other person succeed and prosper and be happy without judgment. In that respect their chemistry is off the charts. Plus to me they also have physical chemistry. But that's just my opinions.

Hot Actors Mediorce Writing Missed Opportunities

Okay first let me say I liked the concept. The actors were pretty decent but the story was all over the place. Frame is a new actor but I think he managed to give Zee and Sprite a different attitude that they seemed different enough.

While Sprite had a goofy smile seemingly happy go lucky, Zee was always mean mugging and so cold and hateful except with Salmon.

It seemed they totally abused First as Sprite allowed Zee to continue to crush First' sprit. I loved First he was so soft and loving even when angry. I think First loved Zee even though Zee treated him like crap. So when Zee changed First was immediately into him even though it was Sprite.

I wish to have seen First in a room with both twins. One madly in love with him, the other that hated him. But this was a cliche BL but props to the actors foe pulling it off.

I hope to see Ryan (First) again. Although he also appears in FOR HIM. Same for Frame (Sprite/Zee) get this man a good BL and a good director and he will soar.

OHM, PHUWIN AND SATANG

This series disappointed me and seemed to not know where it was going. As a mega BL fan I watched because I support the actors I adore regardless if it is a BL or not. Phuwin as always is amazing. Ohm is a marvel. And though Satang was a replacement for Joong Archen he was the true stand out for me.

Phuwin stands out for me regardless as does Ohm but this is a shoutout to the great Satang. He along with Phuwin and Ohm got me through a disappointing series.

Pity I had high hopes but again always great to see Phuwin, Ohm and Satang.

A Married Man Dumps His Young Male Lover

This short for me was pretty good. More or Less About A Taboo Relationship that one of the couple was having unbeknownst to the other.

I think there was really feelings for both but neither wanted an open honest relationship. A man decides to spend one last night with his male lover before revealing that he is not only married but has a child on the way. Feeling like nothing more than a sex object the boy offers himself in anger to his lover before running off in despair. The married man moves on and his young lover has to accept it.

Tacky with A Side Of Trashy with a Bowl of Hot Mess

I honestly think that MFlow and 95Naa or whatever it's called is Motive Village because all their series is simply trash. Often they start strong and somewhere in the middle the little engine that could can't.

I have tried to like their series but it is virtually impossible. I give up finding a series they can do well.

I mean the thrill is gone. If you choose to waste your time, good luck maybe you'll enjoy it. For me it's like ambien. I've never slept better.

In better news they have some decent actors and hopefully they'll make the choice to move on or stay in this pool of nothingness.

This Was Not BL..

First the positive. I liked the actors well most of them. But this story left the BL reservation when they turned in to a woman scorned story. Namning created a relationship with Ram in her mind. She felt entitled to seek revenge against Ram's boyfriend LukChub. This then became all about Namning and her revenge. Revenge She didn't deserve to take.
Ram in all his promises to protect the fragile LukChub he allowed Namning to go free which allowed her to strike LukChub again which also cause hurt for Ram himself.
Plus there was very little affection between the couples. A true disappointment. But I loved the actor playing LukChub I'm all his innocence. But not a BL this is a tale of a woman scorned.

The Cho Boys didn't knock The Parks Or Lees Down

The Parks (SEMANTIC ERROR) and The Lees (OUR DATING SIM) are two couples with the same surnamed that serves BL Fandom 2 great series. Did The Cho Boys do the same? I'm afraid not but they have nothing to be ashamed of.

So lets get right into it. This was an aggressive pursuer and equally aggressive resistor story and those stories are not for everyone. However that story changed quickly to one of mutual fondness.

We have the Team Leader who has a lot of baggage in his past of because of that he cut himself off from the world of love and dating and opting for a life of samples. Meeting men on apps going out with them once and then deleting them as if it was a sample in a warehouse club. Samples aren't there to fulfill but just to get a taste and its no way to live.

So in this vain the aggressive pursuer angle works to a certain degree because it pulled the team leader to get out of his own way. And aren't we glad he did. Team Leader had baggage with an ex that made him feel worthless. Like he wasn't enough so he adopted a lifestyle of one and done date wise.

HaRam gave the team leader the confidence to realize that one bad apple shouldn't leave you living an incomplete life. He gave the team leader a chance to confront his past and to move passed it. The past included a ego maniac that dumped the team leader by text after using him to make his modeling dreams come true. So allowing Team Leader to choose the restaurant and pouring that wine glass contents over his head and walking away with his head held high. Could have been better but the point was clear just as their DATE MATE scenario was coming to it's end and they officially became boyfriends. And the last kiss was nice.

So inclusion was it a great BL, no. But it was damn good. So not in my Top 10 but yet I have an appreciation for the story told. So Good Job Cho Boys.

Sad Short Film but Better Than Expected

I found this film very endearing. A special friendship that meant the world to both men.

The always remembering Ku's birthday and trying to make it special. That was heartwarming as Ku didn't feel he had anyone that loved him. His feelings for his friend was lovely. This doesn't end happily but I was okay with that because the love between the two of them was solid.

They never spoke of their feelings and yes Ku died but his friend and one time lover showed after a time jump that he loved Ku.
