Perfection
First and foremost I just want to say, kudos to everyone involved. This is the best bl I've ever seen and I don't know if anything is going to ever compare. Every actor portrayed their character amazingly, even for the actors who had to portray unlikable characters, they were so unlikable because of how amazing the performances by the actors were. I could go on and on praising the writing of this show, especially episode 6. I heard so much praise about the show so I had high expectations and those expectations didn't even compare to how highly I think about this show after watching it. The show was shot in a way that felt like an indie movie which I enjoyed a lot. I love how these characters actually feel like real people who have lives outside of the moments you see within the show. And to put the cherry on top was how mental health was portrayed. Jaewon's depression wasn't taken as a joke or as someone that should be frowned upon and I love the therapist representation. Was this review helpful to you?
We lost the plot.
When I saw the trailer for this series I was very excited and of course wanted to watch it. I love how we are getting more gl series but this one really did not hit for me. I saw the potential in the beginning episodes but as we went on it was like the writers stopped caring about the quality of the story and some plot lines made me genuinely angry because they made no sense or were just put in there for the sake of them being there. The plot got increasingly worse as the story went on and that was no different for the finale episode. The finale was a mess and very rushed. If we wanted to squeeze that much content into the last few episodes there should have been more, or we shouldn't of even started those plot lines at all.Was this review helpful to you?
A near perfect bl that suffered from bad finale syndrome
Episodes 1-9 were some of the best episodes in a bl I've ever seen and I binged them so quickly, but I felt myself struggling to watch 10-12. It was as if the writers forgot what made this series so special and even the key qualities that made the characters who they were, taking away any of their development. The whole story was about how Day was normal (and how people with disabilities are normal) but in a monologue in the finale he talks about someone blind not being normal? I genuinely don't think Day should have gotten the surgery because it erased his growth throughout the series and felt slightly disrespectful. Mhok was an amazing character, probably one of my favorite characters in any bl, but in the finale it was like he was a completely different person. I am also just not a fan of time skips especially if they are just there because the writers couldn't figure out how to end a series. I was pleasantly surprised with Night's journey throughout the show. At first I really didn't like Night but he quickly became my favorite (especially after they ruined Mhok). Night isn't a typical character that I would like (considering he's not queer and you don't see much of him) but I related so much to him. I can relate to that feeling of when you make a huge mistake but don't know how to fix it, and when you try to fix it, it just makes it worse and worse to the point that you feel like you can't do anything correctly. When Night cried because they acknowledge his favorite food it really got me because something as small as that was so moving to him because of how neglected he was feeling in his family. Overall a good series and JimmySea were amazing (my first series I've seen from them but their chemistry was great!). And at the end of the day, the only reason I feel so strongly about the bad final episodes is because of my love for the first 9 in the series. Was this review helpful to you?
The World is The True Monster
If there was one movie that I could choose to erase from my memory so that I could experience watching it for the first time again, it would be Monster. The way this movie told the story from different perspectives that would change our views and opinions was so smart and made the movie move so quickly. I was surprised by the acting, especially by Kurokawa Souya (Mugino Minato) considering his age, he perfectly portrayed the confusing feelings his character was going through. There was a specific point in the movie where I just started sobbing when I had this moment where I went "these characters are so young but already have to worry about what the world thinks of them," and didn't stop crying until the end. I am a pretty emotional person but nothing has had this much of an effect on me. Just a perfect movie. Was this review helpful to you?
Fluffy Goodness
As a queer teenager I could only hope to meet my future crush in the future and find out they were also pining after me. This was so cute and I feel like some people would find the whole trope cliche but I felt myself really relating to both characters. This was so cute and fluffy I didn't expect myself to almost start sobbing watching one of the scenes but...I did. I found this love story so cute and soft and could truly feel the love that both characters have for each other. I could definitely see this having a second season/movie but I'm not sure if it would have the same effect. The flashbacks were very cute and the backstory was so relatable. Was this review helpful to you?
Healthy Queer Friendships, Finally
I watched this after watching many queer stories where the friends truly don't feel like friends so this series was very refreshing. The lesbian friend group being the forefront of the story was amazing, along with the love stories inside of this. This was a short series done correctly. This was such a fun watch and I could see myself rewatching this at least once a week. I would love to see a spin-off of this series between the characters of Yena and Sung Ah. Even though they were very small characters who were truly just on the side, I found their relationship very cute and would love to explore more into their story. Was this review helpful to you?
Beautiful.
I didn't expect to cry as much as I did watching this. I watched it way after the hype and never truly knew why it was so hyped up as I didn't enjoy the webtoon from what I read before dropping it. I enjoyed both of the leads and think they did amazing portraying their characters. There is a kiss when one character is sleeping which isn't confronted later which made me slightly uncomfortable and would feel wrong to not bring up on how it made me feel. However I truly could feel the natural chemistry between the two even during their "enemies" stage and found the bickering very cute. Was this review helpful to you?
Entertainingly Messy
This show can be summed up by just one word...mess. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because it was very enjoyable. I binged this series so quickly and most episodes didn't disappoint me. The only episode that truly made me think "was this necessary" was episode 12/the finale. I think some choices on the production side took me out at times (esp audio). I wholeheartedly believe this show would have never been as good if it wasn't for the actor's performances. I'm pretty new to Thai bls and quickly fell for some actors. One of these included Khaotung's portrayal of Ray. He portrayed this complicated character who people could either love or hate and not many could have pulled off this character the way he did. Overall enjoyed the show and will probably rewatch it, especially for the growing and complicated relationship between Sand and Ray who were honestly the only couple out of the main 3 I was rooting for.Was this review helpful to you?
Fresh idea, Excellent execution
I just want to say congratulations to everyone involved with this show because it was perfect. I have loved Korean bls because of the production value and this show took it to another level. The plot, the world building, the acting, everything was amazing and it is definitely starting the year on a very high point. I was already interested in watching this because of Woongki but I never imagined the show was going to be this incredible. The shows this year are going to have to be amazing for this to not be in my top 5 at the end of the year. Lee Tae Vin was absolutely amazing in this considering how difficult it must be to portray his character and I'll definitely look out for more of his projects in the future. Was this review helpful to you?
A BL Masterclass
I decided to watch this show while waiting for 23.5 to release bc I knew milklove was in this series and didn't expect to fall in love with this show as much as I do. This has to be the best bl I have ever watched and I can see myself coming back to it again and again (as someone who doesn't really rewatch shows). If I had to recommend a bl to new fans getting into the genre this is the series I would recommend. It contains some basic elements of bl but has its own twists. I highly enjoyed how the characters of ink and pa were their own characters, as many bls reduce women to either being the villain or just someone only there for the male characters. Both PatPran and InkPa had amazing development and their stories were very well told. Was this review helpful to you?
Fluff Overload
I mean fluff overload in the best way possible. As someone who typically prefers more dark and serious series I didn't expect to love this show as much as I did. Just a pure high school love story. I enjoyed how they took the relationship slow and felt it was very realistic. Tinn has to be one of my favorite characters in any series I have watched, just a huge green flag and wish that I could have a partner like him. At first I wasn't sure if I was going to like the side couple (soundwin) but they became one of my favorite part of the series and would love to see these actors act with each other again because their chemistry was amazing and I love the classic enemies to lovers trope. Was this review helpful to you?
A Masterpiece
This is the best thai bl I've seen since getting into the genre. I am recently diving deeper into the genre and this was just amazing. The characters actually felt like real people whereas some series felt like I was just seeing caricatures of people. These characters are flawed in a likable way that lets you have your own opinion on them. Though at some point around episode 6 I lost interest in the main relationship and was sticking around for other characters. I quickly fell in love with Leng and Gaipa but Li Ming and Heart stole the show for me. Their relationship was so beautiful and the pure feeling of their romance is a great parallel to the main couple and their more adult problems compared. This is the second series I have watched that I've seen Khaotung and his acting stole the show for me once again, he's truly amazing. Was this review helpful to you?
