Kim Eun Sook
- Name: Kim Eun Sook
- Native name: 김은숙
- Also Known as: Kim Eun Suk
- Nationality: South Korean
- Gender: Female
- Born: 1973
- Age: 51
Kim first gained attention when her TV drama "Lovers in Paris" became a major hit in the summer of 2004, with viewership ratings averaging 41.3% and a peak of 57.6% (#11 highest rated of all time). Her trademark is slick and glossy romantic comedies with fast-flying banter. Some critics have opined that Kim writes shallow characters, and she is as polarizing as she is successful. But not only do most of her dramas appeal to a wide age range of viewers and receive high ratings, but they often have that extra element that makes them pop-culture buzz projects, whether it's due to a particularly catchy line of dialogue or a recurring joke.
Her "Lovers in Paris" won the "Writer's Special Award" at SBS 2004 4th Quarter Special Award Ceremony and also the "2005 TV Drama Award" at the 41st Baeksang Arts Awards. In 2009, her work "City Hall" won the "Special Prize" at SBS 2009 First Half Best Picture and Special Award Ceremony.
In 2011, her hit romance TV drama "Secret Garden" won five awards, including "TV Drama Award" at the 47th Baeksang Arts Awards, "Special Prize" at SBS 2011 First Half Best Picture and Special Award Ceremony, "Hallyu Special Award - Writer Award (Outstanding Korean Screenwriter)" at the 6th Seoul International Drama Awards, "Writer Award" at the 4th Korea Drama Awards, and the "Prime Minister's Commendation Grand Prize Writer" at the Korea Contents Awards Broadcasting Video Grand Prix.
In 2012, Kim won the "Lifetime Achievement Award" at the SBS Drama Awards for her "A Gentleman's Dignity". In 2016, she won the "KBS Drama Writer Award (Best Screenplay)" and the "Presidential Citation Award" at the 7th Republic of Korea Popular Culture and Arts Awards for "Descendants of the Sun". This drama also won for her the "2017 TV Writer Award" at the 29th Korea PD Awards. In the same year, she won the "TV Category Grand Prize" at the 53rd Baeksang Arts Awards for "Goblin".
She is married to Choi Sang Hyeon and they have a daughter Choi Min Ji. Edit Biography
