Cheng Yi, born in Huaihua, Hunan Province, China, is a Chinese actor and singer. He made his television debut in 2011 while still in college when he appeared in the Chinese television series "Beauty World". The following year in 2012, Cheng Yi graduated from the Central Academy of Drama and went on to make his film debut in “Haunting Love”.

In 2016, he was featured in the successful Chinese television series "Noble Aspirations", which helped him garner more popularity in China. That same year, he won the award in the “Newcomer” Award category at the 7th Donews Award ceremony held at the Beijing Performing Arts Center. Cheng Yi went on to appear in both in films and dramas like “The Big Rescue” (2018) and “The Lost Tomb 2: Explore with the Note” (2019).

Cheng Yi made his solo music debut in 2017 with the single “Goodbye to the Past”. He has since released two additional songs, one titled “Living like Raging Wave” in 2019 for "The Lost Tomb 2: Explore with the Note” and another in 2020 titled “Guard” for “Love and Redemption”. In 2020, Cheng Yi played the lead role alongside Yuan Bing Yan in the hit drama "Love and Redemption".

In the summer of 2023, Cheng Yi co-starred alongside Joseph Zeng and Aero Xiao in the investigative wuxia hit drama "Mysterious Lotus Casebook" and it earned a high rating of 9.8 on its released platform IQIYI. Furthermore, he sang one of the OSTs for the drama. On November 2, 2023, Cheng Yi won one of the only two of these awards given that night; the Outstanding Young Actor Award for his series "Mysterious Lotus Casebook" at the prestigious 19th Annual Chinese-American Film & TV Festival held in Los Angeles, California.
